How We Got Here

Founded in 1995 by Katya Fels-Smyth, On The Rise emerged from the feedback of homeless women falling through the gaps of the social service system. Recognizing the limits of fragmented social services, she envisioned a low-barrier model focused on lasting relationships and wrap-around support, giving program participants opportunities to build trust over time in order to address the issues connected to and underlying their homelessness.

Katya Fels-Smyth creates On the Rise in Cambridge, MA.

2000
